Welcome to Exeter & East Devon CAMRA
Thank you for joining CAMRA and welcome to the Exeter and East Devon Branch. You are one of over 800 local branch-members supporting CAMRA’s mission to promote and advocate:
...the production, availability and consumption of quality real ale, cider and perry. pubs and clubs as social centres and part of the UK’s cultural heritage. ...the benefits of responsible social drinking. Whether you’re a dedicated campaigner, beer connoisseur or just like meeting friends and like-minded people in your local, there is a place for you here. This is your branch and you are welcome and encouraged to engage as much or as little as you wish.
There is a whole host of information to help you get the most from your membership:
CAMRA Website (www.camra.org.uk). The national website is a one stop shop, that includes information about the campaign as well as detail regarding your membership and membership benefits, the discount and voucher scheme, and a database containing details of over 31,000 Cask Ale venues.
Exeter and East Devon CAMRA Website (www.exeter.camra.org.uk). Our very own website keeping things local. Here you can find information about Branch Meetings, Social Events and local beer festivals. The site informs recent and forthcoming branch activity as well as publicly available activity such as “Rail Ale Trails” and “Pubs by Bus”.
“Exe Ale” Magazine. Published quarterly, our local branch magazine can be found in venues across the branch and is also available on the branch website here. It contains even more information regarding our branch activity as well as local pub and brewery news.
The branch holds a monthly branch meeting for all members at various local pubs and brewery tap rooms across the area; discussing general CAMRA and branch business, informing social events and sampling the ales and ciders on offer. Branch meetings are notified via email with further details published on the branch website here and forthcoming social events are available here.
Annually, we hold a Members’ Summer Social, a branch Christmas Dinner, as well as a “beercation” (think beer-themed vacation). The jewel in the crown is the branch organised Exeter Festival of Beer where we aim to serve over 60 beers in addition to ciders and perry. Finally, thank you again for joining CAMRA. You are welcome to join us in some or all of our activities and we look forward to meeting you at our next branch meeting at XXXX, on DD Month YYYY, at 1.00pm. If you would like to hear more from your branch, you can join our Active Members email group here to receive extra messages with news, views and social activities.
Yours sincerely,
Chip Walters (Membership Secretary)
