Real Cider & Perry Campaigns - October 2023
October 2023 Campaign
This October the Exeter & East Devon branch is encouraging cider makers to offer either a special discount, free delivery or samples etc. to pubs in our area to encourage more of our pubs to stock a local cider during CAMRA’s national Cider & Perry Month; an initiative that we hope supports both pubs and cider makers.
Aim
We want to encourage our local cider makers to sell more of their cider in local pubs.
We want to put more of our branch landlords directly in contact with Devon cider makers to encourage the sale of more of our local ciders in local pubs.
We want to strengthen relationships between CAMRA, cider makers and pub landlords in our area.
We want to raise the profile of REAL Cider and Perry in the local branch area amongst our own branch members and the wider drinking public.
Action
We agreed to support the inaugural Devon Apple Fest and incorporated their event activity into our campaign page with links to their site. We also included an article written by a local cider maker in Exe Ale magazine.
All East Devon cider makers were contacted and invited to offer our local pubs something extra during Cider and Perry month. This could be a discount, free delivery, free samples etc. in an initiative that we hope supports both pubs and cider makers.
Wider Devon cider makers who contacted the branch were also welcome to present offers.
A dedicated “hidden” trade page was set up on our website.
48 pubs that had responded positively to the May Cider Month campaign were emailed directly informing them of the various offers and a link to the relevant dedicated trade page on our website. A further 70 pubs for whom we had email addresses were also mailed.
Pubs offering ciders and perries from two or more producers listed on our website. (21)
All 500+ Branch Members emailed and encouraged to talk to their local publicans about the offers.
Facebook posts made naming participating cider makers with a link to the relevant dedicated trade page on our website.
Ongoing activity
Events supported via Facebook and other social media.
New window stickers, posters etc. Double checked and distributed where required.
Cider festivals, cider farm events and apple harvest related activity listed on E&EDC website.
Ongoing – F2F discussions by cider rep. with publicans when opportunities present themselves to raise awareness of local cider makers and encourage trials of local ciders.
Outcomes
