See more about this pub on CAMRA's national web site

Victorian pub, built in 1850 on the Exeter to Barnstaple Tarka Line, is a popular spot for both drinkers and diners. It’s well-known among locals, visitors, and even their cricket team. This destination pub offers home-cooked food made with locally sourced produce.

Part of the downstairs area, which used to be storage, has been converted into a second bar. This space is designed to accommodate sports fans and those in the large, covered area between the pub and the railway line. The downstairs bar also provides views of the brewery.

The pub brews its own ales, with five varieties usually available, including two regulars and three seasonal ales. These ales, along with the village pictures and old pub signs, reflect a railway theme. Real cider from Sandford Orchards is also available in kegs and bottles.

All their beers (except for Whistlemas at Christmas) are readily available in varying quantities for takeaway at a discount compared to the bar price. This convenient option attracts many customers.
