See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Victorian pub, built in 1850 on the Exeter to Barnstaple Tarka Line. Popular with drinkers and diners alike, it is well-frequented by locals, visitors and their cricket team. Home-cooked food made with locally sourced produce is served lunchtimes and evenings. Part of the downstairs area, previously used for storage, has been converted into a second bar to accommodate sports fans and to serve those in the large, covered area between the pub and the railway line. The downstairs bar also allows views of the brewery. The pub brews its own ales and five are usually available, including two regulars and three seasonal ales which, like the village pictures and old pub signs, reflect a railway theme.
